Manchester Middle School affirms and assures the rights of parents and teachers of children being served in activities funded by Title I, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the parent involvement policy. The parent involvement policy has been developed jointly with, and distributed to parents of participating Title I students. The written plan will describe Parent Involvement Policy components as outlined in Title I, section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) in clear and concise language that parents can understand. The written policy shall include provisions for periodic updating to reflect the changing needs of parents and the school. The written policy will be developed, reviewed and approved through the parent involvement committee and distributed at the Title I Annual Meeting, Title I parent involvement meetings and placed in the Parent Resource Center. MMS welcomes the participation of parents in support of student learning and recognizes that parental involvement increases the opportunities for student success. We are committed to establishing partnerships with parents and community members and encourage their participation in the design, implementation and the evaluation of our Title I Parent Involvement Policy.
Statement of Purpose
Title I regulations require that each school serve under Title I jointly develop with and distribute to parents of participating students, a written parental involvement policy agreed on by the parents and the school. The policy will also be available on the school’s website and be written in a language the parents can understand.
Part I: Policy Involvement
Manchester Middle School teachers and staff are committed to providing a quality educational program that will challenge all children to reach their potential. We believe when school and parents work together, children will succeed in school and throughout life. Parents play an extremely important role as their children’s first teacher. Their support is critical to their children’s academic success. Manchester Middle School teachers and staff will work collaboratively with parents and our community in the development, evaluation, and refinement of our Title I program.
Manchester Middle School will:
Convene and Annual Title I meeting each year during the first nine weeks of school, meeting with participating parents to inform them of the Title I services which will be provided to their children.
In addition to the annual meeting, parents will have numerous other opportunities throughout the year to provide feedback on the services provided to their children. This could be done by, but not limited to:

Manchester Middle School will provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective environment that enables the participating children to meet Georgia academic standards.

Manchester Middle School will make parent involvement accessible to all parents including parents of EL children, parents of LEP students and parents of children with disabilities and migratory children. This could be done but not limited to:
The Elementary and Secondary ACT (ESEA) as reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires that parents be notified that they may request information about teacher qualifications.
In compliance with the requirements of ESEA statute, Manchester Middle School informs you, as a parent, that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s). The following information may be requested:

Annual Review Meeting
Manchester Middle School along with parent representatives will plan, review and improve the school’s parental involvement policy, in an organized, ongoing and timely manner. This Manchester Middle School Parental Involvement Policy has been developed jointly with and agreed upon with parents of students participating in the Title I program.
Conclusion
Manchester Middle School is committed to the success of all students. We will work together with parents to monitor the effectiveness of Parental Involvement and Title I Programs to provide excellence in education.

- End of Year Celebration for all students to be recognized for their participation in the program
- Updating and revising the Parental Involvement Policy with input from parents.
- Solicit Parent Volunteers
- Post important dates and activities on the school marquis at the front entrance of the school and website
- Semester Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Communicate with parents via student agendas
Part II: Shared Responsibilities for High Student Academic Achievement
Manchester Middle School will provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective environment that enables the participating children to meet Georgia academic standards.
Manchester Middle School will:
- Develop jointly with parents and teachers a school/Parent/Student compact which will outline ways in which parents, school staff, and students can work together to ensure high academic achievement.
- Will distribute and discuss the school-parent-student compact at the Open House meeting.
- Place the compact in the School Handbook
- Work with the County Parent Liaison to hold a series of parent trainings
- Notify parents if their student’s teacher is no a highly qualified teacher as defined by the professional standards commission.
- Provide parents information for checking their student’s academic progress and attendance using Tyler
- Provide parents with information on the school’s annual report regarding CCRPI (college and career ready performance index
Part III: Building Capacity for Involvement
Manchester Middle School will provide information and assistance to parents regarding the state and local standards.
Manchester Middle School will:
- Provide assistance to participating parents in understanding national, state and local goals, standards, and assessments and how to monitor their child’s performance as well as information on how parents can participate in the education of their student.
- Provide materials and training to parents, such as needed, at various times during the day so that all stakeholders will have an opportunity to become involved in their student’s education.
- Provide parent access to student online assessments and study guides to provide support and practice in skills needed for state testing.
- Educate all school staff, with assistance of parents, on how to reach out to communicate with and work with parents as equal partners.
- Solicit parents to serve on the School Council
- Hold an orientation meeting for upcoming sixth grade parents
- Hold a parent/student/teacher eighth grade transition meeting
- Survey parents at the beginning of the school year and at the end of the year to evaluate the effectiveness of parent involvement program.
Manchester Middle School will make parent involvement accessible to all parents including parents of EL children, parents of LEP students and parents of children with disabilities and migratory children. This could be done but not limited to:
